The Excellence Scholarship Fund provides tuition scholarships to qualified students admitted to Baton Rouge’s best-in-class private schools. Scholarships are funded through the Tuition Donation Program, which provides Louisiana taxpayers with tax credits for their donations to the fund.
To be eligible for a scholarship, students must be current Louisiana residents, have a family income that does not exceed 250% of the federal poverty level and a student must be either entering kindergarten, currently attending a public school in Louisiana, or currently attending a private school under either the Tuition Donation Program or the Louisiana Scholarship Program. While there is no deadline for applying, scholarship availability is on a first-come, first-serve basis, with priority given to students who received a scholarship in the previous year.
Please note, students receiving a Louisiana Believes Scholarship may transfer to this scholarship. However, students may not transfer from this scholarship to the Louisiana Believes Scholarship.
Scholarship Amounts for the 2018-2019 School Year

Donors to the Excellence Scholarship Fund dramatically alter the lives of students from low-income families by providing them the opportunity to attend our city’s best-in-class nonpublic schools. Up to 95% of donations to this program can be applied as non-refundable state income tax credits. Donors can also claim a charitable giving federal tax deduction. This tax credit will be immediately applied upon donation. Donors have the option to carry the donation credit forward and to receive a credit greater than their tax liability; however, there exists a three year carry-forward of the credit so that it may be applied against tax liabilities in multiple years if necessary. For more information on donating to the Excellence Scholarship Fund, contact Adonica Duggan at [email protected] or 225.954.3670.
