NSBR Announces Education Leadership Class

New Schools for Baton Rouge (NSBR) is proud to announce the inaugural group of Education CHANGEMAKERS. The 20 participants were selected from across Baton Rouge’s corporate, nonprofit and public sectors, and are focused on exploring the challenges of improving education in our community.

The CHANGEMAKERS were announced on Monday, October 15 at a reception in their honor at the Estuary at the Water Campus. They then spent the following day in a convening with education experts from across the country exploring lessons from cities like Indianapolis and Denver that have experienced transformational changes in access to quality school options. Throughout the year, participants will engage with local education leaders, tour a variety of schools and complete volunteer hours in our community.

The goal of the program is to provide residents with the knowledge and skills necessary to address education issues, and to work together for excellent schools for all Baton Rouge students. Participants will deepen their understanding of the education ecosystem through exposure to current and future issues impacting education in our city.

“We are pleased to have assembled such a diverse group of leaders to participate in this inaugural experience” said NSBR CEO Chris Meyer. “By engaging with these leaders, we are providing a space for solutions-oriented dialogue that focuses on students and addressing their needs.”
