What’s a quote that motivates you throughout the day?Live as brave men; and if fortune is adverse, front its blows with brave hearts. A quote from Cicero. What’s your most memorable NSBR moment? My most memorable NSBR moment is the first time I visited an IDEA school in the Rio Grande Valley. I cried because I was overwhelmed by the amazing work they were doing with students, and the loving vibe that permeated the school. I'm so thrilled that they're finally serving students in Baton Rouge. What are your favorite go-to locations to recharge and gain inspiration/motivation?Barre3: I always leave a class refreshed and ready to conquer the world. My couch, a good book, and my dog - when I need to checkout and pretend I live in a bubble. My building's rooftop pool also helps replenish my tank. And visiting good schools: they remind me why I do what I do.What is the funniest joke you’ve heard recently? I don't know why Drake is so worried about Keke...I thought he only loved his bed and his mamma ...What’s some insider knowledge that only people in your line of work have? The sound that the letter "w" makes is not "Wuh", it's "Wwwooooo". Most people say it and teach it to their kids the wrong way! What’s about to get much better?I just adopted a dog, and he's already made my life better! It's been so much fun to build a relationship with him, to know his quirks and help him explore our home. I can't wait to go on adventures together!Who would play you in a movie of your life?America Ferrera. What sets NSBR apart? Our ability to adapt quickly and to remain solutions-focused in our work. What bit of trivia do you know that is very interesting but also very useless?Being born with 6 toes is a dominant gene trait, not a recessive one. What really needs to be modernized? We need to get rid of paper money and plastic cards. It's time for online payment methods only! What topic could you spend hours talking about?Special education and intervention. What handy tips or tricks have you picked up from your NSBR position?Hashtagging Google documents for easy searching later on. Linking multiple spreadsheets to one another. What do you do to make the world a better place?I work every day to ensure all students have access to a high-quality education. I also cut the plastic that holds 6-packs together, so animals don't get their heads or limbs caught in them. What’s your favorite thing about Baton Rouge?Downtown! It's fun, it's walkable, the river (which is my second favorite thing) is beautiful, and new things pop up every month. What’s the best lesson you’ve learned from a work of fiction?Marriage and love are not synonymous. A marriage is built from love through will and choice day by day. Without that level of intention, the marriage won't have much on which to stand.[caption id="attachment_2116" align="alignleft" width="266"]
