Teachers and Schools Connect at Teach225 Teacher Career Fair

“Thank you so much for putting this fair on. I look forward to it every year.” “I was able to speak to so many schools and even interview with three of them.” “I saw and met some quality applicants today; thank you.” These were just a few of the comments overheard from school representatives and teaching candidates at the recent Teach225 Teacher Career Fair.

“The Teach225 Career Fair is designed to connect passionate educators with high-quality charter schools across Baton Rouge," noted Jasmine Simmons, Senior Achievement Manager for New Schools for Baton Rouge. It’s a key part of NSBR’s strategy to build a dynamic, diverse teacher talent pipeline by making the journey into the classroom more accessible, connected, and celebrated. Our goal is to elevate the profession and ensure every student has access to excellent educators.”

More than 20 private, charter, and traditional district-run schools participated in the fair. Teaching candidates met with local school representatives, learned about their programs, and identified current openings. Several schools scheduled on-the-spot interviews for interested candidates.

University programs and certification organizations were also on hand to provide information on pathways into the teaching profession. These resources were especially beneficial for career explorers and aspiring educators seeking guidance on alternative certification, graduate programs, and professional development opportunities.

In addition to meeting and interviewing with school representatives, attendees also had the opportunity to update their profiles with a free professional headshot and receive one-on-one advice from the resume support station.

The Teach225 Teacher Career Fair underscored the strong demand for talented educators in Baton Rouge and the commitment from schools to find the right fit for their students.
